Creating Lasting Family Memories

Updated: May 20, 2020

Did you know that you can have your own photography sessions at Walt Disney World? Check out these options for ways to create wonderful family picture collections.

During our first family trip to Walt Disney World we went a little crazy with the picture taking. I felt like I was behind my phone most of the trip instead of letting myself fully enjoy the experience. Between the four adults on the trip, we took over 1,500 pictures in 6 days. It was more than crazy with the pictures and then there was the editing. Granted, we were able to make a fantastic album for the trip, but it was a lot of work and time.

One thing we continued to see throughout the parks were lines of people waiting to have their pictures taken. We did stop a few times, but did not really know what we were doing at the time. After a little research, I felt like we missed an opportunity to save some time, and found out that this was just the tip of the iceberg.

PhotoPass

There are great places to take pictures of your family throughout the parks and resorts. From the iconic backdrop of Cinderella's castle to meet and greets with your favorite Disney characters, there is almost always a reason to have a camera at the ready at all times. But did you know that Disney will take your picture at almost all of these locations?

There is a service called Photopass that allows you to scan your Magicband or a hard ticket at multiple locations and have pictures taken by experienced photographers and stored in an online album for you. It does not cost you anything to have this done. Many of the locations will add to your picture fun with props or the ability to create Magicshots.

Magicshots are usually posed shots where Disney will post edit images or animations into the still picture. To get access to these pictures, you will need to purchase them individually (prices vary depending on the number of prints and sizes) or through a product called Memory Maker.

The Memory Maker service does cost $199.00, but does offer a discount to $169.00 if purchased at least 3 days prior to your arrival. When you get to the parks look for Disney photographers stationed throughout and they will take your picture and scan your band and you are on your way. You can learn more about this product here.

Disney Fine Art Photography

For a little extra magic, and of course extra money, you can add a really special photo session to your Disney visit. Disney Fine Art offers many photo packages that range in time and price to fit into your Disney vacation planning. These sessions start at $225.00 plus tax for a 20 minute session at locations other than Magic Kingdom and go up to $2600.00 for the Premier Package that is targeted to wedding, graduation, and engagement sessions.

My family has done packages our last two visits and can highly recommend. We did the Magic Kingdom Family Photo session in 2018 and the Enhanced Portrait Session at the Polynesian Resort in 2019. Each came with multiple ways to download the pictures and the Magic Kingdom session added a Disney created photo book, 16x24 canvas print, and a USB drive with the fully edited pictures. We thought this was a fantastic way to add some memories to our trips.

These packages can be booked by calling 407.934.4004. For more information, you can find the website here.
