DPI Rankings: Top 10 Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Ranking rides at Walt Disney World is almost a right of passage as a blog. When we started this endeavor, we wanted to make sure that we had as much educational content as we had opinionated offerings. This is our first venture into the rankings world and if you disagree, it is easy to send us a comment.

Let us now present our Top 10 Attractions at the Magic Kingdom as voted on by both myself and Peter, along with our spouses. We started out by ranking our top 20 attractions and taking the 4 score average.

Number 10 - Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover

3 out of the 4 of us had this ride ranked in the Top 10 on our lists, but the 4th didn't even have it in their top 20. This is an omnimover ride that gives you great views of Tomorrowland and and the hub area. A great way to relax and enjoy some A/C as you travel through some iconic buildings.

Number 9 - Carousel of Progress

Another classic attraction that may not get the love it deserves when you look at other Disney lists. It received a very consistent ranking from all involved placing it between 7 and 11. This is another great way to beat the Florida heat and enjoy the early vision of the Disney Imagineers as they look forward to "A great big beautiful tomorrow".

Number 8 - Peter Pan's Flight

A nostalgic favorite aided by a ranking in the Top 3 in one list. Board your pirate ship and enjoy some of the most iconic scenes from this Disney classic. Remember, that the pixie dust will help you to fly through this ride that can command a huge wait at times.

Number 7 - The Haunted Mansion

Hurt in the rankings by not being in one of our reviewer's Top 20, this classic dark ride finds a home looming over Liberty Square. Take a ride on your omnimover as you roam through the residence of 999 happy haunts. Remember that they are always looking for one more.

Number 6 - Space Mountain

The first of the Magic Kingdom mountains checks in here. This great ride is a throwback to the evolution of the roller coaster and seems to thrill every time we get on it. The dark element seems to hide the track well enough that it is hard to learn and anticipate all that this ride offers.

Number 5 - Jungle Cruise

A favorite of all of our reviewers and one of the first rides we do every time at Magic Kingdom finds its place here. The Jungle Cruise is another nod to Disney past and is brought to life by the skippers.

Number 4 - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

My favorite ride at Magic Kingdom made it to this ranking. Another rollercoaster that packs classic elements with fantastic theming in a package that is suitable for most in your family. Disney does a great job keeping families together even for thrill rides and this is a great example.

Number 3 - Pirates of the Caribbean

Peter's favorite comes in to port here at number 3. This classic weaves storytelling with legendary scenery and unforgettable scents. There is a reason why Disney has pushed this brand over the last decade plus.

Number 2 - Splash Mountain

Jessica's favorite ride at Magic Kingdom splashes down at Number 2. This great water ride incorporates many story scenes with one of the biggest collections of animatronics anywhere. Catch this ride soon so you can enjoy the classic storyline and the new Princess and the Frog version (coming soon, we think).

Number 1 - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

A pretty unanimous choice for our top ride was Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. All of the reviewers had it listed in their top 3 and for good reason. It is a fun, family friendly ride that incorporates the thrill of a roller coaster with the fun of a Disney dark ride.

Honorable Mention -

  1. It’s a Small World

  2. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

  3. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

  4. The Mad Tea Party
