Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Want to see the Magic Kingdom in a different light, literally? Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party offers hard to find characters, an exclusive fireworks show, and special enhancements to rides to spice up your visit.

During the Halloween season (August 16th - November 1st) the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World hosts a ticketed event, transforms the park in to a spooky Halloween celebration, and lets you, yes even you adults, dress up as your favorite Disney characters. Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party offers ticket prices starting at $79.00 and peaks on Halloween at $135.00. There is a $10 discount, except for 10/31, if bought prior to the day of the event. This is in addition to your daily park ticket if you want to access the park prior to 4pm.

At 6pm on the days of the party, regular park guests are asked to leave the park in preparation of the influx of guests attending the party. The party officially begins at 7pm and runs through midnight. This is when the rides will "transform" into their party identity and special characters will begin to assume their positions. Be aware that the lines for these characters will form much earlier. Guests that are attending the party can access Magic Kingdom at 4pm.

DPI Extra Magic Tip: Add a salon stop on a party day to get transformed.

Ivy Trellis Salon at the Grand Floridian offers adult and youth Character Couture packages that include some makeup, hair, and nail enhancements to add a little more to your Not-So-Scary costume.

Parades, Shows and More

In 2019, Disney debuted new fireworks show called the Not So Spooky Spectacular Fireworks Show. This replaces the Hallowishes show and adds an impressive projection show on Cinderella's Castle area in addition to the new fireworks.

The Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular returns this again this year as the production show on the castle stage and the Boo to You Parade is back with a few new floats featuring the some of the characters for the Incredibles movies.

Also, new in 2019, is Cruella's Halloween Hide-A-Way. This is another upcharge event where Tony's Town Square is transformed into a "sinister soiree" hosted by Cruella De Vil from 9:30pm to 12:30am most nights of the Not-So-Scary party. This addition comes with sweet and salty dishes for you to snack on and a private viewing area for the Boo to You Halloween Parade. The cost for this event is $99.00 per person with no discounts for children or advanced purchase.

The Disney photographers are out in full force for the party exclusive PhotoPass Magicshots. There are a lot of cool additions that they have for your fun family photos, so be sure to ask each photographer what they have available.

All of these are special attractions for the Halloween party and cannot seen at any other time outside of this event.

Special Ride Additions

A recent addition to the Not-So-Scary are changes to lighting and soundtracks to a few of the attractions around he park. For 2019, these enhancements include special lighting for the Mad Tea Party, a modified soundtrack for Space Mountain, a Halloween twist for Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, and the return of live pirates on Pirates of the Caribbean.

Be aware that these rides will attract more riders because of the changes, so be sure to plan accordingly.

Finding Rare Characters

Another draw to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party is the addition of some rarely seen characters around the park. Be aware there are a couple characters that tend to draw enormous crowds because the party is their only time in any of the parks. Below is a list of characters and their locations. Trick or Treat in Costume at Magic Kingdom

Time to use your Disney imagination and get creative. This is one of the few times that adults are allowed to wear costumes inside the park. There are some rules so things don't get too out of hand and can be seen here. Since you are all dressed up for the occasion, there are multiple locations around Magic Kingdom that are turned in to trick-or-treat stations for the night and guests given generous portions of the treats in that location. These areas are marked with large inflatables and are open the duration of the party with the exception of the Main Street Welcome station that closes at 8pm. There are also allergy friendly locations that will offer appropriate treats. You will need to find a cast member to get a teal bag and tokens can be picked up at each trick-or-treat location to be redeemed a the designated allergy friendly locations.

Specialty Food and Merchandise

In addition to the trick-or-treat locations, there are multiple dining locations that have party exclusive food items. These items are listed on the party map next to the location description. From entrees to desserts, these dishes are designed to be spooktacular. If you are looking to take home some party swag, there are many special merchandise items that can be found in the shops, especially the Emporium, around the park on party nights.
