Liberty Square is an underrated area of Magic Kingdom. Located between Adventureland/Frontierland and Fantasyland, it often gets lost in the hustle and bustle of moving between these other higher traffic areas of the park. Complete with a replica of the Liberty Bell, this area has much more to offer than people realize and is full of a couple hidden gems that complete a wonderful day at Magic Kingdom.

In the Park Detail series, we will be taking a much more in-depth look at each of the 4 theme parks of Walt Disney World. This series is meant to inform our readers on what is available and where you can find it at each park. We will break it up into sections, so that you can easily find information quickly.
Location Details-
To get to Liberty Square you take the second left out of the castle hub and walk across the bridge. Quickly you find yourself in what looks like the streets of Philadelphia during the colonial America time period.
Fun fact: If you look down at the walkway you will see a lighter brown paved area in the middle and other darker colored surfaces surrounding it. In larger colonial cities the street would be designed with the low point in the middle and sloping downhill. This way all waste water that was dumped from houses and businesses would collect in the middle of the street and flow down it to leave the left and right side open for carriages and people to walk without having to get their feet all dirty. Disney mimics that with the pavement as the light brown area is meant to look like the flowing waste water. Pay attention next time and see for yourself how it looks like flowing waste water.
The Rides -
One of the reasons this area often is overlooked is due to the lack in number and excitement value of the rides that are here. The largest draw is Haunted Mansion. In this ride you will board a "doom buggy" and work your way through several scenes as your "ghost host" talks you through the facility with "999 happy haunts". A fantastic ride sure to delight the family but you may need to snuggle the little ones in close so they feel nice and safe. If you are a huge fan make sure to check out Momento Mori across the path with unique Haunted Mansion gifts and interesting souvenirs that will let you show off your fandom... even if some of them are a bit macabre.
The other ride here is the Liberty Belle Steamboat which takes you around the "Rivers of America". Board the 4 level, 47 foot tall working steamboat and enjoy a 20 minute cruise around Tom Sawyer island as you enjoy the tranquility and scenery. Complete with some unique views, it is sure to be a memorable experience.
The Dining -
There are two sit-down and two quick service restaurants available in Liberty Square. The Diamond Horseshoe is themed to an Old West music hall and has a nice menu for lunch and then it switches to an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal for dinner. A stage that features a working player piano makes for a delightful meal during your day. The other sit-down option is Liberty Tree Tavern is modeled after a colonial style inn and features an all-you-care-to-enjoy "Thanksgiving dinner" all year round. Full of family favorites and hearty food, this restaurant will leave you stuffed as you continue your day. I don't recommend riding AstroOrbiter right after a meal here!
For your quick service options here you have Columbia Harbour House that has sandwiches and seafood in a nautical themed building. A tip is to check the second floor if you are having trouble finding a table. The other option here is Sleepy Hollow which is one of my favorite spots in the park. The menu features chicken and waffles and some waffle sandwiches and always has funnel cakes that can be topped with strawberries. Grab a treat, find a seat and enjoy the quaint decor and delicious food.
The last thing to mention here is the Liberty Square Market right in the middle of the area which is a great place to pick up a drink or a quick snack. They always have fresh fruit which is a healthy snack and very refreshing on a hot Florida day.
The Attractions -
Off to the side, between Sleepy Hollow and the Market, you will find the Hall of Presidents. It is an audio-animatronic show detailing the history of America being told by the individuals who have held the title of "President of the United States". The show is approximately 25 minutes long and can be a nice way to escape the heat (or rain) during the middle of the day.
One of my favorite things about this area is it is a great place to watch a parade. Located toward the beginning of the parade route, you can line the streets to watch as some of your favorite characters and entertainers go by. Most days, you don't have to sit down an hour before the parade to get a good view like you do in Main Street U.S.A.
Liberty Square only makes up a small area in the Magic Kingdom, but it is home to some of the most unique attractions in the park. From the Haunted Mansion to Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, this area is one that shouldn't just be passed through to get to you next reservation or ride.
